Extended Family is proud to partner with Coosa Valley Youth Services to provide Extended Family for Kids (EFK) and Extended Family Leadership Academy (EFLA) programs there. We are excited to offer our solutions-based, character education lessons to guide these young people toward more positive choices.
EFK and EFLA offer a variety of lessons to promote healthy lifestyle changes to help kids improve their quality of life emotionally, mentally, and physically. Our lessons build self-esteem, ease isolation, decrease stress, address anger issues, and strengthen communication skills, all valuable tools which lead to success.
EFLA addresses topics such as job readiness, health (including healthy relationships), and communication. The central theme of EFLA is “lead yourself,” an idea that encompasses respect, personal responsibility, and the power each individual has to create their own future.
Our goal is to provide the young people at Coosa Valley Youth Services with the skills needed to make better choices going forward, which will reduce their chances of reoffending in the future. Most importantly, we want to instill in each kid we see the message, “You matter.”
