Jennifer Mackey was born and raised here in Cherokee County. She is a graduate of Sand Rock High School and Gadsden State Community College where she obtained her degrees in both Medical Lab Technology and Business Administration. Jennifer has worked in local government as a Certified Municipal Clerk for the past 20 years. Jennifer, and her husband Mark, owned and operated a local daycare in Cherokee County for over 8 years where they taught children from ages 6 weeks to 12 years. During that time is when they decided to become foster parents for the Cherokee County DHR and have since loved and cared for over 50 children in their home. Jennifer became involved with Extended Family for Kids years ago when Mrs. Laure Clemons talked to each municipality about EFK and the importance of having sponsors to keep this program in our local schools to help our children understand and adjust to having incarcerated family members. "I am very honored to be a part of this EFK program and look forward to working with this amazing group of people. I see first hand what this program can do for our children and I want to do my part to help promote understanding, hope and healing."
