Extended Family for Kids (EFK) is an evidence-based, 9-lesson Curriculum for students grades K-12 with a loved one incarcerated. EFK teaches students how to make healthy life-style choices, so they can improve their quality of life emotionally, mentally, and physically. EFK Lessons build self-esteem, ease feelings of shame, ease isolation, decrease stress, address anger issues, and strengthen communication skills.
EFK Leader Training is 6 hours and leads participants through all 9 Lessons of Extended Family for Kids. Trainees experience the EFK Lessons hands-on, taking part in the same activities that students will experience under their leadership. Trainees are provided tools to use in identifying students needing EFK. Trainees take part in collaboration exercises with colleagues during Training, which allows them to complete a major part of the EFK set-up work before returning to their schools and communities. At the completion of EFK Leader Training, new leaders have everything they need to begin leading groups immediately.
