Tanya Ragan

Tanya Ragan is a School Guidance Counselor at Hokes Bluff Elementary School in Etowah County, AL. She resides in Piedmont, AL with her husband, Michael, and twelve year old son, Landon.  Tanya received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Alabama, a Master of Science degree in Agency Counseling and an Ed.S. in School Counseling from Jacksonville State University. She has been in the field of counseling since 1999.  She has served as Historian and President of Chapter V’s division of the Alabama Counseling Association over a ten year span.  Tanya has seen firsthand the success of Extended Family for Kids (EFK) since 2014. Tanya has described watching students in EFK groups have increased self-esteem, an increased sense of belonging, increased hope, and increased ability to overcome the stigmas associated with incarcerated family members. In Tanya’s spare time, she enjoys reading, biking and traveling with her family.
