Linda Starr is the Cherokee County Extended Family for Kids Coordinator. She runs the EFK Awareness Campaign and assists with the implementation of Extended Family for Kids in Cherokee County, Ala. Schools. Linda is a native of Chambers County Alabama. She is a graduate of Alabama A. & M. University, with a Bachelor of Science (1977) and a Master of Education (1991) in Home Economics Education (now Family Consumer Sciences) with honors, and a Minor in Early Childhood. Linda worked with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System for 32 years, retiring in 2009. She is the Centre Lions Club President, and is active in many other community clubs and Chamber of Commerce activities. She is the Gideon’s Auxiliary President, on the School Advisory committee, Gadsden State Recruitment and Selection Committee, Cherokee Youth Leadership Advisory Board, County Extension Advisory Board, Cherokee County Museum Board, and Family Resource Center Board. Linda is committed to her husband, Lanny Starr, Sr. and granddaughter, Shaliyah Glass. As a blended family, Linda and Lanny have five children and six grandchildren. Linda attends St. Mark United Methodist Church where she serves as Sunday School Secretary and Church Secretary.
